Water Quality
The Role of the Responsible Person
Part 1 – Management
This course deals with the management requirements set out in the HSE Approved Code of Practice, L8. It provides a background to the pathogens and the diseases they cause. It covers appointments, risk assessment, the written scheme, implementation of the scheme and record-keeping.

The Role of the Responsible Person
Part 2 – Technical
A course for the person (sometimes referred to as the Authorised Person) who takes responsibility for specific water systems. It deals with biocides and biofilms; cold and hot water systems, other water systems; and monitoring and testing.

This course is suited to those persons working on water systems, such as plumbers, maintenance assistants, etc.

Safe Water in Healthcare Premises,
Part A – Design, Installation and Commissioning.
A course for delegates whose interest lies in Capital/Projects/Design aspects. The content includes water safety law/guidance: water supply quality, treatment and control; water storage, distribution and pipework; installation, testing and commissioning.

Part B – Operational Management.
This course deals with both the management and technical aspects of water safety. It deals with governance and responsibility – the Water Safety Group; the Water Safety Plan; hot, cold and other water systems; verification and validation – inspection, monitoring, sampling and testing.

Safe Water in Healthcare Premises,
Part C Pseudomonas aeruginosa – Advice for Augmented Care Units.
A course for delegates from a range of functions – Estates, Infection Prevention and Control, Facilities, etc. It covers patient, technical and management aspects; and sampling and testing.
Water Hygiene Awareness Training
This course follows the example syllabus in HTM.04-01(2016) Safe Water in Healthcare Premises. It is suitable for those persons working on water systems, such as plumbers, maintenance assistants, etc. It can also be adapted for an awareness session for other groups, such as Infection Prevention/Control Nurses, Head Teachers, Domestic Assistants, Caretakers, etc.
